blame it on the reign

The Oracle: this is from 'the god delusion'. thought you could use it somewhere. it says alot. The take-home message is that we should blame religion itself, not religious extremism - as though that were some kind of terrible perversion of real, decent religion. Voltaire got it right long ago: 'Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.' So did Bertrand Russell: 'Many people would sooner die than think. In fact they do.'
The Reverend: i knew about the two zep songs by maynard, but i did not know that one was on the soundtrack... i own both maynard versions, and so do you... the dawkins part is pretty good... voltaire was a smart man... someone once recommended 'voltaire' to me, not the writer, like you would think, but some 80's pop muzician by the same name that turned out to be an idiot... why is it that most of the time, whenever someone recommends muzik to me, it usually ends up sucking horribly and i have something new to add to my hate list... but whenever i recommend anything to anyone else, they usually end up liking it... anyway, my thought about that dawkins part... the voltaire quote, 'those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities'... the bad part about that, is the word 'make'... the fact that anyone can make anyone do anything is just wrong
The Reverend: we need to step up our emotional maturity and be responsible for ourselves... it was irresponsibility that got us into this mess in the first place, people wanting some big wizard boss to take care of them and do everything for them
The Reverend: '... perversion of real, decent religion...'... no religion is decent... if it keeps you from thinking for yourself by putting a gun in your insecure little hand and telling you to kill those who don't believe what you believe, end the lives of the ones you can't convert... it's to blame for this whole phuking psychotik murderous shytfest we're in now... everytime we've gone to war, has been because of religion, too many times has someone murdered someone else because of religion... once is too many, but we let it go so far beyond that because we were afraid to stand up and make a protest, because our holy books tell us not to... it was worked into a flawless plan... or so we thought... now we know, it was very flawed.
